[ another surprising thing, but he nods. he'd let kiryu do anything to him, honestly. ]

Maybe you ended up moving to Kamurocho?

[ Which is fair, because Kiryu already kind of likes Kamurocho, it seems like a sweet place to live.

Kiryu of course writes this all down, along with "Ugly tattoo guy." And "Majima family?" as well. It's funny to hear Majima sound both insulting and fond of someone, but it's the kind of funny that makes Kiryu love him. ]

Another girl? Do you know why he was looking for her?

[ Kiryu nods and pulls the eyepatch off, revealing the scarred tissue underneath. He's the only one who gets to see Majima like this, and for all that whatever happened must have been horrible, Kiryu's seen it enough now that he isn't surprised by the sight of Majima's new, old wound. ]

[ majima laughs, it's a touch nervous because he's still figuring out how to navigate this. ]

It's not like I can see the difference.

[ kiryu is right, though, it's nice not feeling the band of the eyepatch against his skin and holding down his hair, for all that he's gotten use to it. ]

[ One day Kiryu's gonna punch Majima for his sass and Majima will love it but that's not today, they're not those people yet, so Kiryu just gives him a slight chuckle and nudges Majima towards the bed. ]

This'll help.

[ He hopes, anyway. Being this comfortable has to help stop whatever nightmares Majima''s having, right? ]

[ majima crawls on into bed, cuddling up to kiryu once he gets into bed. ]

I think I sent him. Both he and the club owner called her Lily, but I called her "Yasuko-chan."

[ who....the fuck....he hasn't even figured out the deal with makoto come on. ]

I said she was my responsibility? 'cause of...'cause of something that happened in '85.

[ Kiryu pulls him close and cuddles right back. He'll sleep better too, knowing Majima is maybe going to get some sleep. ]

Maybe she was on the run, if she was using a fake name.

[ How many... years have they known each other... if something happened in '85? ]

'85... [ Damn, that's a long ways before either of them were born. ] You mentioned you had a pager, right? Could some of our memories be from back then?

[ They're gonna have to add a timeline to their notebook, damn. ]

Yeah, pagers were really big back then.

[ but that wasn't the important takeaway here, kiryu............. ]

[ it's ok, Kiryu will just have to stroke his hand down his side until one of them falls asleep. It'll probably be Kiryu... but he's gonna try his best to stay awake in case Majima wants to talk. ]

[ He smirks. He always seems to know exactly what to say to the ladies. It's a gift. ]

It's the truth. One of these days I'm gonna find out how much I can bench press.

[ He really... doesn't work out at all, actually. ]

[ Kiryu can relate, having the whole "Suzuki" memory hanging around in his head. ]

What do you think happened? Back in '85?

[ He caught the bit about her being Majima's responsibility, he's just trying to write things down in a way that'll still make sense later. ]

If she was on the run...

[ Well, Kiryu won't say it, but could she have been running from Majima? ]

[ REALLY TALL CASTLE IT IS. The trick, of course, to building sand castles without it falling over is having a wide enough base to build up on instead of shooting for skyscrapers, so by their combined powers, the mound of sand starts growing up and up and up... also wider and wider and wider. Half the sand on the beach is going towards this castle. It looks more like a mountain than anything, but they can say there's a castle built inside of it- the perfect defense. ]

You mean you don't know? So was this a retrospec thing?

[It made sense, but was still weird to ask.]

[ it's not a terrible accusation, given the things majima has admitted he thinks he's done, but it leaves a bitter taste in his mouth. that kiryu's first reaction was that majima had been harassing some girl, not that there was something else. ]

I don't think it had to do with her.

[ he doesn't know how to explain this - only that the sadness with which he was explaining it to the club owner was as deep and infinite as his guilt over what happened with his brother and yet somehow worse still. he had almost cried, telling this guy he didn't know. ]

It seems more like I was looking out for her on account of somethin' else.

[ hey, it could have been some kind of misunderstanding! Kiryu knows Majima's on the protecting side here, but they're both kind of former(?) criminals so he could understand someone wanting to steer clear of them, too. Sometimes people get reputations whether they're good people or not. ]

She must not have known you were looking for her.

[ If Majima was looking out for her, then she could have easily come to him, couldn't she? Even if he was a yakuza, and with his own family... It couldn't have been that hard to find him in a city as small as Kamurocho. ]

You would have protected her otherwise.

right. and then it'd turn out we were anxious about nothing.

[Says the girl who has been getting anxious over the last memory she had gotten.]

[She has a lot of extra stuff in the gag comics. Because those are canon and that's where side characters get extra development.]

[No matter who he was she couldn't imagine him being a bad person. Even if she ever found out he had been yakuza she still thinks he was probably one of the good ones.]
