[ Thatta girl, Mafuyu. Tacos are important but maybe your life is too? Maybe? Maybe you should get a bag like this. Of couse, being the pure soul that he is, Kaz does not see through Mafuyu's attempts to steer clear of schools questions. He's happy to answer as he starts the car and gets them going. ]

Good. I didn't actually have any sales this morning, but there were a lot of papers to file... We have to run a lot of maintenance checks now that the college students will be finishing up the semester.

[ How incredibly boring.... Kaz sounds pretty interested, though. How does he manage it... ]

[ It's... it's so boring, just the mention of papers and filing and maintenance and college that she doesn't want to think about. Mafuyu leans forward and presses her forehead against the passenger side airbag compartment, negating any safety the seatbelt would provide because the bag would send her flying backwards and possibly smash her head back into the seat.

She'd ask him why he doesn't just quit such a boring job, but he sounds so happy, how... ]

Maintenance sounds like a pain... Sales though! You just gotta try harder, twist people's arms if you have to!

[ And she means it! Seriously! ]

[ It's. A skill, apparently. But he's the kind of guy who's happy where he is (for now) so the boringness of his job doesn't seem to bother him any. Sales aren't too bad, though. ]

That's true... sales are where the big numbers are. I'm still the newest person at my office, though. I don't see many clients directly.

[ Which is just sad, isn't it. At least he's a little disappointed about that. ]

[ The disappointment hurts, more than any disappointment directed at her because lmao that just can't be helped. Mafuyu sits up a little straighter and gives Kaz a light punch on the shoulder (don't do this to drivers, friends) ]

Being new doesn't mean you can't meet clients! Take them out for dinner, get them drunk, then sign the papers!

[ You're a pure soul, Mafuyu. Her words might be a little out there, but that's exactly what people do at his office to be the top-seller... She's right. Kiryu nods. (Hey at least the car didn't swerve.) ]

That wouldn't be very ethical... But I get what you mean. I've kind of been coasting these past couple of months. I should up my game if I want to get somewhere.

[ Is that what she meant? Is it, Kaz? ]

[ Is that what she meant? No..... but if he can take it and spin it around to find motivations, then Mafuyu will 100% take credit for being his inspiration. ]

That's it! You have to aim for the top! Beat those other guys outta their jobs and get those promotions and then next time we can go to a steakhouse!!

Ah-- let's not get carried away. I don't want anyone to lose their job...

[ But her motivation is definitely enough to inspire him to get himself in gear, maybe. Sometimes you just need some hot-blooded kids to get you moving, Kaz. He smiles. ]

I'll tell you what, next time I get a promotion, I'll take you out for steak. As thanks for the advice.

[ It wasn't advice, Kaz!! ]

[ !!! ] You're welcome! [ Mafuyu lights up like a thousand watts, because when was the last time she got thanked for anything? ...when was the last time she did anything that merited thanks... But the promise of steak speaks to her even more, and she's definitely going to do anything she can to make that happen. ]

I'll help you out too! Who're your clients? The college kids? Driving them out of their old apartments is easy!

[ All it takes is an annoying neighbor/hot-blooded kid yelling at three in the morning in the middle of finals week and they move right out and right into the market for another residence. They got this. They'll make a great team. ]

[ Oh, child... Kaz is gonna have to take you into his wing if nobody is thanking you. Kaz will thank you. Every day. He's a dad. Just watching her smile is thanks enough, god what a loser. ]

I'll let you know. [ He chuckles a little. Chasing people out of their homes is definitely not good business practice!! ] I appreciate the help. I'll be sure to let you know if there's anything you can do when we need help.

[ Mafuyu doesn't mind getting her hands dirty if it means producing results. She can be brash and impatient and all those things kids can unapologetically be, so that Kaz doesn't have to. So she sits back, somewhat satisfied with the promise that she'll be called on when he needs her... but not completely. ]

I can do anything. So if you need help now, you just got to say so.

[ He's gotta admire her spirit, that's for sure. You know, if you showed this kind of initiative in school, you'd be an amazing student, Mafuyu? Kaz doesn't say that, duh, but he can't help but be charmed by her desire to help. She's just such a good kid... ~~Kaz, she's tricking you into buying her tacos.~~ Oh, look, speaking of tacos they're almost there. Kaz pulls the car into a fairly decent parking spot while he speaks. ]

Thanks. I think I'm set for now, but... [ She really wants to help. Think of something, Kaz. ] I do have a few coworkers that I wouldn't mind messing with. Just a little...

[ KAZ, NO. ]

[ If she showed this sort of initiative at school, she'd be working around the system and thinking up plans to raise trouble for the teachers instead of putting any effort towards actual schoolwork. She's better at that, dealing with people rather than sitting still and thinking through things on her own, and the only compromise to that is bouncing ideas off somebody like Kaz over tacos ...in which she listens to advice and promptly discards them in favor of her own plans. ]

Yeah! We'll show 'em who's boss! Give me a hit list!

[ Spoken like a true Yakuza, Mafuyu. Take down the system and show 'em how it's done am I right?? No... don't do that, though. There has to be a balance between pushover Kaz and cool kid Mafuyu but that middle ground would probably be lame so let's not go there. ]

Maybe after lunch. [ He smiles. Food is calling... ] I still haven't decided what kind of tacos I want. What about you?

[ Nothing works up an appetite like planning the demise of innocent coworkers, so Mafuyu's quick to run up to the restaurant door, flinging it open hard and wide enough for both her and Kaz to step through before it swings closed again, something of a courtesy in holding a door open for somebody except it's just her wanting every taco, it doesn't matter what kind. ]

One of each! We can get a party platter!!

[ That serves 30 people but that's okay, they can eat 30 people's worth of tacos ]

[ It's okay, Kaz figures her door-swinging is a little of both. He follows her into the restaurant waves off her idea as a joke. (she's not joking, kaz.) At least this time when a waitress shows them to a table, it's not somewhere awful. Kaz takes a seat and picks up the menu. The party platter is. TOO BIG. ]

Let's start with a combo and see how we feel after that.

[ 30 tacos is more than he can eat without regains, Mafuyu..... maybe someday... ]

Do you wanna start with a soda or should we go ahead and order?

[ Mafuyu will probably also die around her 6th taco, but it'll be a valiant effort to make it to the end. But Kaz does have a point; if they order all hundred tacos now, it'll go cold before they finish even a quarter of it all. ]

Ok! Coke, no ice, and soft tacos with carne asada, no onions, extra guac.

[ See, there's always logic to be found here. Kaz nods along to her order, thankfully a waitress has walked on by and is writing things down because this would be remarkably like a minigame if he had to memorize Mafuyu's order. ]

I'll have an iced tea and a crispy taco combo with carnitas and extra cheese.

[ Sounds gross tbh. But wait! Before the waitress leaves, Kaz remembers something else. ]

Oh, and a blooming onion for each of us.

[ The waitress gives them a look. Those are usually ordered to split... Their initial plan had been ten onions so maybe one each is ok? He looks over at Mafuyu, confirming. ]

It'll be fine, right?

Yeah!

[ Honestly, she had forgotten all about the onions at the prospect of stuffing a hundred tacos into her mouth, and so often are her off-hand comments about food choices outright ignored or skirted around (since she doesn't remember either, so it turns out alright in the end...), that she's taken by surprise every time somebody remembers and cares enough to follow through with her plans.

Kaz is objectively amazing, but then the onion comes and her appreciation for him gets shoved into the far recesses of her mind because look at crispy golden layers, steam rising in soft white wisps, the delicious smell of anything deep fried ]

It's beautiful...!

[ Kaz is just a nice, concerned guy and good listener and frankly Mafuyu deserves the best so of course he remembered the blooming onions even if it's not 10 of them... they're pretty awesome. They're probably too hot and fresh and delicious to eat right this second but that won't stop them. ]

Woah... they look even better than I thought.

[ When was the last time he had one?? Who cares. You can make a meal out of one of these, who knows how the hell they're going to eat tacos after this. Kaz is gonna dig in, in any case. Rest assured, the deep-fried greasy deliciousness is exactly as good as it appears to be. ]

Great idea with these, Mafuyu.

[ So good, she doesn't even mind scalding her tongue with hot battered onion, steam escaping from her mouth like a dragon blowing smoke as she talks with her mouth full. Who knows whether she can taste anything with her taste buds burnt off, but she grabs a swig of coke and it's right back to digging in, large dollops of dip on her pieces to cool them off a little.

This was a great idea.

Or at least, the first half of the blooming onion was.

She can barely feel her mouth by the second half, filled up with oil and dip and coke, and then the tacos come. She stares at them for a moment. And starts stuffing onion into her tacos, because they're So Much but they're still delicious and she will finish them even if it kills her. ]

[ Kaz keeps his mouth shut (minus chewing, anyway) as these things are definitely way too good to let chill and eat later when they're cold and disgusting. The burning, stinging sensation is definitely worth it as more and more of their onions begin to vanish into their mouths, along with a good amount of sour cream and cheese. Kaz makes pretty good headway on his, but then he's also over a foot taller than Mafuyu so he has room for it all.

In theory, anyway. By the time his tacos show up, Kaz has had two refills of iced tea and almost all of his blooming onion. One shudders to think of the effects the two will have when they meet in his stomach, but Kaz carries on undaunted, following Mafuyu's lead to turn his crispy, cheesy, pork tacos into crispy, cheesy, onion-filled pork tacos. ]

Mmf-- Yeah, thif is awshum.

[ They're going to die, but it'll be a good death. ]

[ They've got enough tacos and onion to feed them for an entire week probably, which is an idea Mafuyu can honestly get behind. And thus, she pitches the idea to Kaz too— ]

—We could live here forever! Taco Tuesday and Wing Wednesday and... [ what's another T food... ] ...Taco Thursday!

[ He almost suggests Thirsty Thursday but that's a whole different age group altogether. ]

Mm—[ He swallows, only to grab another bite of oniony taco. ] Fajita Fridays?

[ Just can't help but be encouraging, can you, Kaz? ]

[ That's why she likes him, bright eyed and clapping her hands together at the mention of fajitas. ]

Yeah! And Saturday will be... [ s... s... crap, she has to think of two s words, for each Saturday and Sunday... ] ...Wing Weekend!

[ WHATEVER IT'S OKAY THEY CAN LIVE OFF CHICKEN WINGS AND TACOS ]
