[ Kiryu chuckles a little. He's still a bit shocked, but it does all have a cool ring to it. ]

We really were in the yakuza, huh.

[ majima laughs, too ]

Yeah, I guess so. We should make sure to write things down as we remember. Try ta keep it all together.

[ Kiryu writes a couple more names, adding "tattoos," "golf" and "pocket car racing" under... let's go with Miscellaneous. ]

I remembered my old boss, Tetsu Tachibana. I don't know if he was a yakuza or not. Maybe my real estate thing was a front? Or that was a few years before the rest of it.

Oh, you remembered his name? That's good.

[ he thinks about it ]

It could be a front. That seems pretty normal for the Yakuza, right?

Yeah, he seemed kind of young. But maybe he was just really badass, I dunno.

[ That seems like it would be normal, right? ]

And... I remembered getting arrested. And I remembered a lot about our tattoos, they're actually not just for show. There's this whole philosophy to them.

What's the philosophy behind yours?

Well, it's a dragon because of my name, I think. Dragons are featured a lot for their strength and force of will. But I didn't choose it myself, the artist is the one who comes up with the vision and he decides on the colors and everything. It's kind of like a contract between the artist and the person receiving the tattoo. You have to maintain it and get it touched up every few years. Taking care of it is as much of a responsibility to the client as it is to the artist who marks you for life.

[ He could go on... ]

That kind of thing.

[ majima scoots a little closer to kiryu, getting comfortable and listening intently as kiryu talks. he likes hearing him talk, a lot. ]

Yours doesn't have any color yet, right?

[ That's cute... especially since Kiryu doesn't tend to talk a lot like this. Unless he's nerding out about Torts & Tribulations. ]

Not yet. I think I must have had it colored at some point, though. It's really expensive, and everything is done by hand. That's what makes it unique to Japan. [ That part he googled. ] I think... in the yakuza, they're probably a mix of displaying your wealth as well as showing others how tough you are, since something that could take a couple hours with a traditional machine here could take days done by hand. They're not something you just show off though, you have to treat them with respect.

[ it... is cute...and majima is pretty impressed ]

Ah, Kiryu-chan you know so much.

[ Kiryu blushes.... ]

I remembered a lot... it feels important, you know?

[ majima reaches with his free hand to feel his way down kiryu's back. they can only talk about him for so long before he's going to want to reach over and touch him i dont make the rules ]

[ It's cute and it's good, ok. Kiryu leans into his touch, smiling softly. ]

Yeah. I can see why Makoto would have recognized it as a yakuza tattoo.

Was he scared about it?

Ah. Yeah... he got pretty nervous about it.

[ majima nods, that's gotta have been difficult for kiryu. ]

How's he doin' now?

He seems fine now, but I haven't told him much else. I didn't want to worry him.

He's normal. Not like us.

[ there's probably a word for that. ]

Yeah.

[ It feels weird to admit, but Kiryu can't imagine Makoto getting involved in any of the things he's remembered. He might be a Tachibana but he's not the Tachibana.

There's definitely a word for this. ]

Has he talked to you about anything he's remembered?

[ maybe he should ask if makoto's even remembered anything, but he feels pretty certain that everyone has. ]

No, I don't know if he's remembered anything or not. Maybe some boring stuff, since he seemed to think mine were pretty far out there.

That must be hard.

[ having someone close to you scared like that. having them not understand. ]

It can't be helped.

[ He shrugs. He's at least had time to get used to the fact that Makoto probably won't understand. Family is important and all, but there are some things you keep to yourself. ]

It'd be hard if I was alone. But I'm not.

[ he reaches over to put his hand on kiryu's thigh reassuringly. he's here, and he's not going anywhere. at least not by choice. ]
