[ majima nods. he doesn't know what else to say about that. about either of these guys. he doesn't want to talk about himself but he also does. and kiryu is his boyfriend. which means he'll listen. and majima could really use a listening ear right now.

because he's not fine. he doesn't know how this happened, he doesn't have strong ties to the yakuza or a strong belief in what he did before. he doesn't have context for having an eye cut out, and none of the crime he'd ever done had been this intense. all of this is a whole other level - and it's true what they say: it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.

he sips his tea idly for a moment, looking at the cup in his hands instead of at kiryu. finally, after a long moment he says quietly: ]

Kiryu-chan...what if my brother doesn't recognize me anymore, after all this shit?

[ Kiryu looks over at Majima. He knows Majima doesn't share his fears lightly-- hell, talking about their feelings doesn't come naturally to either of them.

Kiryu puts his notebook and pen down, reaching over to place his hand on Majima's arm. He squeezes reassuringly, stroking his arm with his thumb. ]

You're still you, Majima. This won't change that.

We don't know that.

[ maybe the people they were in their memories were too different. gangsters who got arrested and shot people and god knows what else. the kind of person who got his eye cut out. was that the kind of person he was, now? ]

I believe that.

[ Maybe they did bad stuff, maybe they drove a fucking cab, who knows. But in those memories he never once felt he was doing the wrong thing. For Kiryu, that's enough. He's simple like that. ]

Who you were is just a part of you.

[ as opposed to majima, who can't shake the feeling that he does the wrong thing every damn day of his life. but that's been true since his brother went to jail. but he doesn't want to argue. it's not that he doesn't agree with kiryu, because he does -- he also believes that the memories are real, that that was who they were. but becoming that person again was a double edged sword; maybe he was becoming more himself, but maybe who he was wasn't someone his brother would have wanted to be brothers with. but that's too much to try and articulate.]

I guess so.

[ Kiryu can't speak for Majima's brother. Fact is, he's never met the guy; all he knows is that he was important to Majima and whatever Majima's told him. He can't say for sure or not whether he'd understand what's happening to Majima or how he would react. All he can do is speak for himself. ]

We can explain it together if we have to.

[ there's a lot of ifs involved in this plan, but it's alright. ]

[ Kiryu goes back to stroking Majima's arm gently. There's a lot of things that could go wrong, he's sure, but words won't make them better or worse. Sometimes words just muddle things. He hums instead. Who Majima is now or whoever he becomes, he'll be here. ]

[ sometimes words muddle things, it's true. but other times they need to be said. and majima feels there's a few he could stand to say that he hasn't been, especially considering the way he'd reacted when they first realized they knew each other. ]

I'm glad we're in this together. It's a shit boat to row, but it's better not to do it alone.

[ Kiryu smiles softly. He didn't need to hear those words to know they were true, or at least suspect them, but they're nice to hear anyway. They make his heart flutter in that way only Majima can. ]

Yeah.

[ Kiryu turns towards Majima and leans against him, kissing the side of his lips. He doesn't have to say "me too," that much is obvious. But he's glad he has someone to be with who gets it. Someone he cares about, past and present. It's definitely not going to be a joyride, but it's theirs. ]

Ah...

[ majima turns towards kiryu, too. he reaches over and cups the side of kiryu's face with his hand, stroking his thumb along kiryu's cheekbone. kiryu's response is obvious. the two of them don't need a lot of talking to get their points across, that's part of what he likes so much about spending time with kiryu. their bond is deeper than that.

but he does want more of a kiss, so he closes the distance to kiss him on the lips, swiping his tongue against them to get a taste of him ]

[ Kiryu meets Majima's lips with his own, leaning into his touch and reaching over to cradle his neck and hold him close. He parts his lips for him, sighing quietly as he tightens his hold on Majima's neck. ~~It's so nice when they don't get interrupted by small children...~~

Maybe one day Majima would cut his hair and get those tattoos back and do a million other things Kiryu hasn't remembered yet. Maybe one day Kiryu would drive a cab or get arrested and punch tigers, who knows. As long as they have each other, it'll be fine. ]

[ majima sighs happily as he slides his tongue into his mouth. finally. finally they aren't being interrupted by the random people kiryu lets into his house, they aren't just circling around this. as nice as it is to spend time together, it's even nicer to think of all the things they could really do together. kiryu is his boyfriend after all. he assumes that means eventually they're gonna do more than just hold hands. ]

[ Maybe the secret is being at Majima's. Not many people know where he lives, so the chance of being interrupted is minimal. Plus maybe in a smaller space it's more romantic? Who knows. The fact is they've been dating for a few weeks now but getting time alone hasn't been easy. Kind of a shame that it took Majima losing an eye for them to really take time to themselves, but there it is. Kiryu kisses back, enjoying this chance to simply spend time with Majima and taste him for himself. He hasn't wanted to go too fast or anything, but this feels right. ]

[ it does feel right, so he lingers awhile before sighing happily and pulling away. it's a nice, quiet sort of affection that he likes. ]

You taste good. You an' the tea.

[ Kiryu smiles softly, pulling back and licking his lips. Majima tastes like tea, too. It's not sweet or bitter though. Maybe it's just Majima. ]

Thanks. [ He reaches over to stroke Majima's cheek again, enjoying this moment of peace and quiet where it feels like there's no one else in the world but them. ] You too.

[ majima smiles, leaning a little into his touch. ]

It's going to be okay. [ shouldn't kiryu be the one telling him this? ] So long as we have each other, yeah? We found each other again, despite all this weird memory bullshit.

Yeah.

[ Kiryu nods. It's nice to hear Majima say it too. ]

Whatever we remember or forget, nothing is gonna keep us apart.

[ Kiryu nods. There's no question. He doesn't remember ever holding back against Majima before, there's no reason he'd start now. ]

Of course. [ He smiles. ] I love fighting you.

[ He knows exactly what Majima means. Fighting is great. The fact that they used to do it so much before only makes it that much better. ]

[ Fighting on rooftops... fighting in cages... the yakuza relationship goal. ]

Maybe we'll even remember more shit that way.

Besides, fightin's fun, so it's a win no matter what.
