[Tatsuo has two duffle bags. One contains a weird assortment of things he's currently checking out for people. And the other has about a week's worth of clothes he bought over the last couple of days. He tried laundering the clothes he scavenged from his apartment, but could not seem to get the smoke smell out of them. Not that he had tons of clothes in the first place.]

Thanks, Kaz. You are a lifesaver.

[He kicks his duffles under the futon. There. Settled in.]

[ps, does Kiryu have a rice cooker?]

[ Oh, Tatsuo.... if you need someone to go shopping with you, Kaz can do that too. ]

It's no problem, honestly. I'm glad to help.

[ Kiryu smiles. He really just loves helping people. And yes, a rice cooker is one of the few appliances he owns... but he only knows how to make white rice. ]

Let me show you around. The kitchen's over there, the bathroom's this way... My spare towel is a beach towel, I'll see about getting a second set.

[Tatsuo follows along as Kiryu points to various rooms. He'd been in the kitchen and living room during Majima's birthday party, but hadn't used the bathroom then.

[ Kiryu scratches his neck, leading him around. There's only one bathroom and one bedroom, but there's enough room and the furniture is all new. ]

Right, I'm going to turn in. Thanks again for putting me up.

Oh, sure. Feel free, I'll be in my room if you need anything.

[ Kiryu points his thumb towards his room. He stays up pretty late (playing Last Fantasy XIV probably.) ]

What time do you have to be at work? My aunt has my spare key right now, but I can get you a copy by the end of tomorrow.

Oh, I have to be at work at eight.

[oh good, so Tatsuo won't wake Kiryu up or anything when he suddenly shouts and flails himself off the futon and onto the floor three hours later :| thanks new memory]

Okay, I'll lock up behind you and see if I can get you the key tonight. Text me if you get home early. I'll see what I can do.

[ I mean, he might still wake up.... but as long as Tatsuo's ok, they're ok. Kiryu just wants to cover all his bases. ]

Alright, sounds like a plan.

[Kiryu's so very organized. Tatsuo could learn a things or two about being a responsible adult from him.]

[ He acts way too old for his age, it's a problem... ]

[ Sure thing! Kiryu can always wake up in the middle of the night... to grab ice cream... this is normal. ]

[ice cream, you're the best Kaz]

[The dream starts off innocuously enough. At first it's a real dream, his brain still trying to process what happened to him. He's in his apartment getting ready for work when the smoke starts billowing into the room. He goes through similar motions as when his actual apartment burned down, trying to open the window, grabbing things to take with him...

But somewhere along the way it shifts and suddenly he's staggering down a smoke filled hallway, supported by another man. The scene goes downhill from there, until finally Tatsuo jerks awake with a strangled shout. He's managed to squirm his way to the very edge of the futon, and when he tries to sit up, he ends up falling off instead.]

[ What a coincidence that Kaz should be in the kitchen in the middle of the night at this very moment. He hasn't told anyone besides Majima, but Kaz also remembered a fire in his apartment, though it wasa completely different situation altogether.

Either way, he wasn't having the easiest time falling asleep, so he's halfway into a pint of Cherry Garcia when he hears Tatsuo shout. He makes his way to the futon and leans down to check on him. ]

Tatsuo? Is everything okay?

[Tatsuo is breathing rapidly, like he's just gone two rounds with his karate sensei back to back. For a moment, he just lays there on the floor, one hand clutching at his stomach. Then Kiryu's vioce jerks him back to the present and he looks up at his friend.]

Yeah, I'm okay. I just...

[His mouth is dry and he closes it for a moment before continuing.]

I got another one of those memories.

[With a slight groan he pushes himself into a sitting position, gingerly poking at his stomach again as if to check it's still there.]

Oh.

[ Kaz nods, understanding in his tone even with what little he says. ]

Did something bad happen in it?

[Tatso blows out a couple of long breaths as he works to bring his heart rate back to a normal level.]

There was a building on fire. Not my apartment, a different building. There was a narrow hallway and storage rooms. The place was going up like a matchbox.

Probably not an accident, huh?

[ Kiryu takes another bite of his ice cream. ]

You want some? I can get you a spoon.

No, there were some other guys with me. Three of them. One accused another of being responsible, but he said that someone was trying to 'erase' us.

[Looks at the ice cream. That actually sounds really good right about now.]

Yes. I could use some sugar.

Sounds intense.

[ Kiryu hands Tatsuo the pint and grabs a spoon from the kitchen. He comes back and offers it to Tatsuo. ]

You can have the rest.

I will buy you a new one in the morning.

[ice cream, get in my mouth]

Yeah. It was super intense. I'm pretty sure I was injured 'cause the third guy was helping me walk.

Don't worry about it. I ate half of it already.

[ He waves him off. It's just ice cream!! ]

That's awful. Do you remember why you were hurt?

[ What kind of past life are you living, Tatsuo? ]

[Kiryu is the best.]

No, all I can remember is being in horrific pain. And there was blood on my shirt... and my hand. I might have been shot.

[He kind of doesn't want to know anymore!]

[ Kiryu frowns. ]

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry.

[He pauses with the spoon stuck in the ice cream.]

The really weird bit? Right before we got outside, the guy who said the fire was to erase us, he got grabbed by these people in gas masks. Like, what the hell were these people involved with?
