[ after majima gets to kiryu's place he tries to sleep - same as he's been trying with varying degrees of success since july - but after a couple hours of just dwelling on his latest memory, he reaches over to tap his shoulder lightly and see if he's awake ]

Hey, Kiryu-chan...ya up?

[ Kiryu's memories range from the strange to the awful, so while he's been sleeping a lot better than Majima, he isn't quite the deep sleeper he used to be. He likes being awake for when Majima gets home anyway, and that means rolling over and staring blearily at Majima when prodded. ]

What's up? [ He's mostly half-asleep, but he can be stirred. In fact he reaches around and lays his arm over Majima. I mean, maybe that helps? ] Bad dream?

Not exactly.

[ he sighs, cuddling up to him. ]

I remembered more about the guy with the tiger tattoo.

[ i mean, he didn't see the tattoo but he knows. he could feel it - that the same fondness he had for the tiger dude, he had for this guy. ]

[ Kiryu pulls Majima close and loops his legs over so they're tangled together. This is a cuddle thread now. ]

The big tiger guy? What about him?

I called him kyoudai. And we talked about -- about stupid stuff, mostly. Tripe.

[ there's way more about it to unpack than just that but he has to take it one step at a time. ]

[ Tripe...? Kiryu's too sleepy for that part, but he knows what that first word means. ]

Was he... your oath brother?

My what?

I looked it up, it's like... You know how in the yakuza, you call a senior member aniki and your boss is your oyaji, and it's like a family? Some guys join the yakuza together, and they swear an oath to each other, to have each other's back.

[ He hasn't remembered that Nishiki is his... but after remembering him as a kid, it's not hard to put two and two together. ]

pretty sure ultra-protein diets don't normally take effect on your body overnight
either way that sucks
but everyone had gotten used to it, right? even the people who don't have the app?

Interesting. I wonder what world it came from. Because did you know that apparently there were monsters wandering about that I would've recognized from my own memories?

[ majima nods. he remembers, they'd talked about those terms when they'd figured out he was some hot shot boss. ]

I don't... well, he doesn't, so I don't. But it's something I could probably learn on my own. The question is where... they don't exactly carry that sort of armament at DeadEye.

[Tatsuo realizes he just seriously stated he wants to learn how to use a grenade launcher... and he laughs.]

Ahhhhh... so this is what my life has become.

So the tiger tattoo guy was your oath brother?

[ Not... literally, but they understand what they're talking about. It's not weird to call a dude "kyoudai" probably. ]

Oh, I didn't know that.
Yeah, I guess it might have come from somewhere...
I don't think my world had monsters, though.
I got pretty lucky, all things considered.

They didn't buy it much either.
But yeah, they stopped asking after a while.
I think if you don't have the app, it becomes "normal" after a few weeks.

It's not like weapons are that hard to come by. This is America, after all.

[ Maybe DeadEye only carries fake guns but there's plenty of other places... Grenade launchers might be a little much, though. ]

So much for normal, huh? [ Kiryu takes a sip of his beer, nodding. ] Maybe this is just normal for us now.

Yeah, it's kind of weird... but I guess it's not much weirder than monsters.
It'd be nice if it came with some instructions.
Like "What To Do If You Wake Up With Superpowers" or "I Guess You Have Gray Hair Now"
Has anyone written something like that yet?

pretty sure someone out there is working on it right now
it could be useful for newcomers instead of doing the same song and dance every other month and spamming the app
you never know when you'll wake up w silver hair too or an even worse hair color so
better safe than sorry

It would be really helpful.
Considering I've woken up with a tattoo and some people wake up losing eyes it's probably better to warn them.
It sucks though.
I wouldn't want to go back to not being on the app, but still...

Yeah, but it's going to be a bit awkward making inquiries since I'm affiliated with the police. That, and I'm not 100% sure on the legality of having something like that in your possession. I'm fairly certain it's a no-no.

I guess. I mean, the monsters weren't normal. But all the other weird crap that goes on, the colors missing, the fruit dancing, chocobos... it's wrong, but at the same time it's what's 'normal' now. If everything suddenly went back to exactly how it's supposed to be... I, for one, would be suspicious.
