[ after majima gets to kiryu's place he tries to sleep - same as he's been trying with varying degrees of success since july - but after a couple hours of just dwelling on his latest memory, he reaches over to tap his shoulder lightly and see if he's awake ]

Hey, Kiryu-chan...ya up?

[ Kiryu's memories range from the strange to the awful, so while he's been sleeping a lot better than Majima, he isn't quite the deep sleeper he used to be. He likes being awake for when Majima gets home anyway, and that means rolling over and staring blearily at Majima when prodded. ]

What's up? [ He's mostly half-asleep, but he can be stirred. In fact he reaches around and lays his arm over Majima. I mean, maybe that helps? ] Bad dream?

[sotenbori]

Not exactly.

[ he sighs, cuddling up to him. ]

I remembered more about the guy with the tiger tattoo.

[ i mean, he didn't see the tattoo but he knows. he could feel it - that the same fondness he had for the tiger dude, he had for this guy. ]

[judgementkazzy]

[ Kiryu pulls Majima close and loops his legs over so they're tangled together. This is a cuddle thread now. ]

The big tiger guy? What about him?

[sotenbori]

I called him kyoudai. And we talked about -- about stupid stuff, mostly. Tripe.

[ there's way more about it to unpack than just that but he has to take it one step at a time. ]

[judgementkazzy]

[ Tripe...? Kiryu's too sleepy for that part, but he knows what that first word means. ]

Was he... your oath brother?

[sotenbori]

My what?

[judgementkazzy]

I looked it up, it's like... You know how in the yakuza, you call a senior member aniki and your boss is your oyaji, and it's like a family? Some guys join the yakuza together, and they swear an oath to each other, to have each other's back.

[ He hasn't remembered that Nishiki is his... but after remembering him as a kid, it's not hard to put two and two together. ]

[sotenbori]

[ majima nods. he remembers, they'd talked about those terms when they'd figured out he was some hot shot boss. ]

I cared about him so much.

[judgementkazzy]

So the tiger tattoo guy was your oath brother?

[ Not... literally, but they understand what they're talking about. It's not weird to call a dude "kyoudai" probably. ]

[sotenbori]

I think so.

[ he buries his face into kiryu's shoulder]

I'm sorry for wakin' ya up about this.

[judgementkazzy]

You don't have to apologize.

[ Kiryu pulls him closer, kissing the top of his head. ]

What else did you remember about him?

[sotenbori]

He was going back ta jail. I don't....I don't have any context for that.

[judgementkazzy]

Oh.

[ That sounds rough. ]

That's too bad. He must have been important to you.

[sotenbori]

What does this mean? About my brother?

[judgementkazzy]

Your brother... the one in jail?

[sotenbori]

Did I fuck up this guy's life, too?

[judgementkazzy]

You don't know that.

[ Kiryu shakes his head. ]

You didn't do that for your brother, either.

[sotenbori]

Yes, I did. I kept pushing him until he ended up in jail. I kept --

[ his fingers tighten against kiryus skin where hes holding him ]

Everything. I ruined everything.

[judgementkazzy]

You didn't. You didn't force him to do anything.

[ Kiryu runs a hand along Majima's back, trying to soothe him. ]

Your brother wouldn't blame you.

[sotenbori]

You don't know that. Ya can't know that.

[judgementkazzy]

I know.

[ Wishful thinking, maybe, but... ]

Your brother means everything to you. It's the same for him, right?

[sotenbori]

I don't know.

[judgementkazzy]

[ Kiryu says nothing, opting to squeeze Majima a little tighter. ]

[sotenbori]

There's something -- there's somethin' I haven't told ya, yet, Kiryu-chan.

[ his throat feels tight. he should've told him a long time ago, but he's been so scared to. scared that it'll end up hurting kiryu, too. ]
