Oh, I guess so, sure.

[ Kiryu sits down and pockets one of the pens. His handwriting is pretty neat, after all. ]

What's the first thing you remember?

There was a blind girl. And I was helping her through a city, running away from some assholes.

[ he thinks about this for a moment ]

Probably yakuza fuckers, I guess.

Makes sense.

[ Majima hadn't mentioned the blind girl... but he writes it down anyway. ]

The first thing I remembered was kind of weird, I went on a date with a girl from a call center? [ He'll write that down anyway. ] But then there was that guy on the roof who had all those tattoos. He had an eyepatch, and he ripped his shirt off so that we could fight.

[ He pauses. ]

Actually, I remembered more of that conversation, later. He told me he just wanted to have fun and run amok in the city, and that he only listened to people who were strong. [ He's a badass, in other words. ] I remembered fighting him again, maybe two years later? He was really happy. I was too.

I think I was friends with him.

[ they'd talked about it before. that someone who wanted to fight would of course want to fight someone who fought tigers. ]

I think it's safe to assume we were both in Japan, considerin' your card and the fact we can speak Japanese again. I was usin' a pager? So I guess it was probably the 80s or the 90s, right?

[ that seems like a safe assumption. ]

I don't know shit about eyepatch guy, but there's the girl I hauled through town, white suit guy who looked... kinda like Ken Watanabe in that super boring movie about the dreams, and some guy named Daigo.

[ Kiryu nods, writing down "Japanese. 80s? Early 90s?" ]

Wow, I'd only heard about pagers from my parents.

[ Not really the most important thing here, obviously. ]

Oh, the white-suited guy I remembered was kind of young. He had a really smug look to him, it must have been a different guy. [ He'll go ahead and write this down too. "Guys in white suits: Ken Watanabe?? + Young Asshole-looking dude." ]

Daigo? [ Had the guy on the roof said anything about Daigo? Or was that during their cage match? ] I think the eyepatch guy mentioned him, too. We were both talking about him and some kind of resort deal in Okinawa?

[ Which makes no sense but he writes that down as well. ]

I remembered some stuff about Kamurocho, too.

Okinawa...

[ he says it like he's trying to figure out if he has the same feeling he gets about the city with the blind girl when he says it, but it doesn't feel like it. ]

So we've got some shitty town, and Okinawa, and Kamurocho. What'd you remember about Kamurocho?

[ Yeah, Kiryu doesn't remember anything about Okinawa yet. Unless you count being called ojisan, but that's not something he's realized he has either. ]

Just kind of... landmarks, I guess? There's a big gate that lights up, and a park in the north where all the homeless people live. There were batting cages and a bowling alley and places where the buildings are so close together it's practically just an alley full of little shops.

[ That would be the champion district? ]

Huh. That's interestin' you remembered that.

Yeah, I guess I must have spent a lot of time there if I was able to remember things like that.

[ He writes down a few more notes about it. ]

I can't remember the names, but I can tell you what they look like. It's weird.

Ya really liked Kamurocho, huh?

I must have... I don't know.

[ He can remember it so distinctly, though. ]

I'm guessing I must have lived there. Maybe for a long time.

I mean, if you don't know, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

[ better than longing for something you cant have. ]

I guess. If it's important, I'll remember eventually, right?

[ he's quiet and then points to where kiryu had written down daigo's name ]

I think Daigo's the boss guy. Whatever the fuck that is in Yakuza structure - 'cause he's the reason I went to jail. Dunno about shit with an Okinawa deal, though.

Oh. Damn.

[ He'll make note of that under Daigo too. What a jerk. ]

I hadn't heard anything about Okinawa mentioned before then. It was just during this one cage match I had with the eyepatch guy. I guess he wouldn't talk to me unless we fought, so that was fine.

[ It was cool, actually. ]

[ majima laughs ]

Yeah, his tattoos wrapped around to his chest and most of his sleeves. He's pretty rad.

[ Kiryu thinks back. Besides the eyepatch, the dude fought with a knife. He didn't fight like Majima at all, though. ]

Wish I could remember his name.

Sounds like ya knew him pretty well.

[ figures, that he'd have memories of being close with kiryu but kiryu'd have memories about being close with another guy. that's how it usually goes, isn't it? ]

Yeah, it seemed like it. He mentioned that we hadn't fought each other in two years like that wasn't something that happened normally. We must've fought all the time before.

[ Kiryu writes all of this down under "Eyepatch Guy." Sorry, Majima, you're jealous of yourself... ]

Two years is a pretty long time ta not see someone.

[ he figures that's what it means - if this guy always insisted on fighting. ]

Yeah, I wonder what happened. Did we have a falling out?

[ He tries to think back to what he remembers... ]
