[ it's not too weird. majima's good eye flutters shut and his lips part. he takes a deep breath and releases it. in spite of everything, of all this weirdness and waking up missing an eye, he feels content here with kiryu. kiryu's strong and solid and very much real. he can almost believe kiryu's optimism that it it's good that they knew each other before. maybe for awhile, he could rely on someone else. someone like kiryu. ]

Dunno why I didn't tell ya before, but. I think you've been here for me for a long time.

[ he does know why he hadn't said anything - he's been too scared. too scared to tell kiryu about his memory of calling out to him in front of the cops that day. but now that they've all but confirmed that they're both in a lot of each other's memories, it seems less scary and less one-sided. ]

When I got arrested, an' you were there? I told ya you were all I had left.

[ Kiryu wraps an arm around Majima's waist to hold him closer. He's happy to be there for him. He really likes Majima, from the way he fights to how kind he is, being with him feels right. They were close before all this, back then, and he's the kind of guy Kiryu knows he can rely on. If Kiryu can be there for him and help him through this, then he will. Seeing Majima smile makes him smile, and knowing he's the one that put that smile there feels even better. ]

Oh. [ Kiryu's surprised to hear that, though not for the fact that Majima neglected to mention that part. (Majima has a right to his secrets after all.) He smiles. It's a big responsibility, being there for Majima through all this, being all he has... But it feels like the kind of thing Kiryu has been waiting for. Someone to really care about. Someone to protect. ]

[ majima presses into his hands, sighing happily. he opens his eye to look at him. kiryu's so nice, he's so damn lucky. ]

Kinda glad I turned out to be eyepatch guy.

[ Kiryu smirks. He knows what Majima means. ]

[ All those fond memories make way more sense if he was talking to Majima this entire time. He might look different... but deep down, he's still the same. Plus this means they fight a lot which is super fun. That's something Kiryu will want to do... once Majima adjusts to the eye thing. ]

I'll keep being here for you, Majima.

[ Just. Forget that time he spent two years not talking to you and all that, we definitely don't need to relive that shit. ]

I'm here for ya, too, you know? No matter what happens.

[ this is an important point. ]

[ Kiryu nods, pulling him a little closer to bury his face in his neck. They're hugging now. This is a hug. ]

[ majima puts his arms around kiryu's waist, holding him close, too. this is really, really nice. ]

That means a whole hell of a lot to me.

[ Kiryu hums an affirmative as he just closes his eyes and lets himself enjoy having Majima close. He knows now for sure: they're meant to be together. ]

Thanks for comin' over so quickly. I know ya didn't have to do that.

[ Kiryu shakes his head. ]

It sounded important. Work isn't more important than you.

[ majima just squeezes him tighter, holding him closer ]

[ Kiryu squeezes back, turning his head to speak against Majima's neck. ]

Anytime.

[ he just stays there for a little while, letting himself be hold and holding kiryu close until he finally seems to remember the tea he'd made. ]

D'ya want some tea? I might have some fruit in the fridge, too.

Yeah, that sounds good.

[ Kiryu's just glad he can be there for Majima, he knows they're not exactly the most affectionate couple. Just this is more than enough. (For now...) ]

What kind of tea did you make?

Oolong.

[ he goes to get a second cup for kiryu and pours some out - it's thankfully still hot. ]

[ Kiryu grabs his cup and blows on it softly. At least Majima seems to be working his way up to doing normal things. Whatever loss in depth perception he has, he's gonna have to work through it one way or another. ]

[ majima goes to take a seat on the futon, come join him, kiryu. in this tiny ass apartment where theres minimal furniture. ]

[ Kiryu will gladly join Majima on his futon. He sits down beside him, close enough that their thighs are flush against each other. ]

I think so? My aunt drinks Oolong. And matcha.

[ Kiryu's not a huge fan of matcha... ]

[ he's not super sure. he may have gotten japanese back, but not an entire lexicon of japanese culture and customs. ]

Yeah, you need a special brush and stuff. I've never done tea ceremonies, but I know that's what they use.

[ All stuff Makoto's mom wanted to get him into but his parents didn't want him to 'waste his time on.' Yeaaaah... ]

Sounds like a lot of work.

[ sometimes he's not great with tradition, unfortunately. ]

[ You have to sit a certain way and do certain things and it all sounds really hard when you can just buy instant matcha at the supermarket.

He takes a sip of his tea. It really is quite good. No ceremony required. ]

[ they may be talking about things that seem otherwise kind of pointless, but he is genuinely glad that kiryu is here to distract him from all of this. ]

[ That's what he's here for. None of this is normal, but at least they can be there for each other and try to make sense of it all.

Sometimes that means ignoring it and acting like everything is okay. ]
