[ so the eyepatch guy in question has indeed located an eyepatch but not without stares from several people at cvs who can fuck right off. also, in case you were wondering: yes, it's hard to locate them. theyre not with bandages. eyecare is near vitamins nothing in this world makes sense anymore.

he's made himself some tea but hasn't actually had any to drink. the thought process was i usually give people tea to calm them down > yeah that'll help > puts on a kettle > pours tea cup > #nailedit > proceeds to not do the most important step.

he feels bad that kiryu's taking off work to deal with this -- he hadn't wanted to concern him. which is why he hadn't led with hey kiryu so i woke up this morning and my eye was just fucking gone how are you. though, in retrospect (ha ha ha), maybe he should've waited until later.

anyway whats done is done and kiryu is over soon enough so he opens the door for him ]

[ Kiryu's only a little concerned on the drive over. Work is fine. Hours can be replaced, anyway. Majima's more important than that, anyway.

But really, when Majima texted him, this isn't what he'd pictured. The eyepatch guy was kinda skinny, he had shorter hair, he was covered in tats and there was something almost... manic to how much he enjoyed fighting. He was a friend, that much was sure, but he wasn't Majima.

Except apparently maybe he was Majima. ]

Oh.

[ That's all Kiryu can really say when he sees Majima there. Wearing an eyepatch. That can only mean one thing, which of course means the confusion Kiryu feels is immediately followed by concern. ]

Are you okay? Did you--

[ Actually scratch that maybe he should come inside but also maybe he should make sure Majima's not bleeding or anything. ]

Does it hurt?

[ majima shrugs, shakes his head. he heads inside, motioning for kiryu to follow him into his tiny apartment. ]

Depth perception's a little shittier. Fuckin' weird not being able to see on one side.

Yeah...

[ Kiryu follows him in, closing the door behind him. Is that tea? Did Majima seriously make himself tea??

Fuck it, Kiryu's not some emotionally stunted yakuza yet, as soon as the door's closed he walks over to Majima and takes his hand, squeezing it as comfortingly as he can manage. ]

It doesn't hurt though?

[ the action still manages to startle him, even though they're together. he smiles a little sadly, shaking his head again. ]

No, it doesn't hurt.

Good.

[ Losing an eye is awful, but better it happen painlessly than... whatever actually happened to Majima's eye. In fact there's a hug happening, hopefully he doesn't squeeze too tight because new-ish muscles, but you know. ]

I'm glad you're okay.

[ he's fine. majima's been plenty strong well before kiryu turned into a ripped beast. ]

Probably gonna scare everyone at work tonight. I don't need all the fuss.

[ Definitely Fine. Kiryu steps back and nods, like that hug totally didn't just happen. ]

You don't look scary. People will just be worried about you.

[ look it's not that... he liked the hug... he just has trouble accepting sympathy for his problems. ]

Well I don't need them worrying.

[ Majima...... pls let Kiryu worry about you. ]

They'll get used to it.

[ Kiryu reaches up to trace Majima's cheek. He doesn't look that much like the eyepatch guy, but it fits. ]

[ majima stays still for him, letting kiryu touch his face. there's a pretty hard reaction to pull away but he fights it. he'd rather let his boyfriend touch him, tbh. ]

You wanna see it? It's pretty gross-slash-rad depending on your definition and level of squeamishness.

[ Kiryu doesn't look away. He hasn't really seen that many scars and stuff, but if he's really some badass yakuza, then he's gonna have to get used to it. Plus he's always though scars are kinda cool?

And anyway this is Majima. His boyfriend. He's not going to abandon him now. He nods. ]

Sure. Let me see.

[ he had just sort of figured if kiryu was touching his face, that was where this was going. but maybe thats a little too shoujo manga for real life. who knows. it hardly matters now. he pulls off his eyepatch to reveal the scarred mess where his left eye should be. they're cuts that obviously hadn't healed correctly, deep incisions that had carved out his eye to start with. he's lucky he can't remember how it happened. he's lucky it doesn't hurt. ]

Pretty intense, right?

[ Kiryu strokes his thumb up to Majima's cheekbone, inspecting the scars where his eye used to be. There's no two ways about it, this happened on purpose. Being in the yakuza was serious shit, and Majima had the scars to prove it. He's definitely lucky it's all scarred over. ]

Looks painful.

Don't remember how it happened, so I don't remember the pain.

[ he knows he's lucky on that front, but he's also not so naive to think it'll always be that way. ]

Call me if you do.

[ Yeah, he's not going to leave Majima alone with whatever awful crime memory that ends with him losing an eye. ]

Yeah? Ya gonna hold my hand through the night?

[ he means it sarcastically, but after he's said it...that does sound like something a boyfriend would do, doesn't it? ]

[ It might be sarcastic, but if that's what it took, Kiryu would do it. He's earnest with his reply. ]

If you want. I'll be there for you.

[ That's what people do when they're in a relationship, right? ]

[ his expression falls a little bit. not because what kiryu says is sad, although maybe it is in a way. he's been so alone ever since his brother went to jail. so depressed, although that wasn't a word he'd ever put to it. the idea that anyone would be here for him like this, it's more than he can begun to understand. that thought makes him feel a touch guilty, he knows what people like fai or tatsuo would say if he indicated he felt that way. it wasn't that he didn't trust them, it was that people had their own shit. and he'd been heaving around his baggage for far too long to let anyone help him pick it up.

to some extent, that's still true. he'd never ask kiryu to help absolve him for the things he did to his brother, but he could ask kiryu to help him carry these things about this life they lived together.

majima's quiet for a long moment while he mulls it over. not intentionally. once he realizes he hasn't said anything, he finally replies, quietly:]

I'd like that.

[ Kiryu smiles, small and just as quiet. He can't imagine what Majima's been through, before all this began and in whatever life they both lived before. But they did it together once and they could do it again. ]

Okay.

[ And since the moment seems right, Kiryu leans forward and presses a kiss right above Majima's scarred eyelid. Hopefully that's not too weird. ]

I'll be here.

[ it's not too weird. majima's good eye flutters shut and his lips part. he takes a deep breath and releases it. in spite of everything, of all this weirdness and waking up missing an eye, he feels content here with kiryu. kiryu's strong and solid and very much real. he can almost believe kiryu's optimism that it it's good that they knew each other before. maybe for awhile, he could rely on someone else. someone like kiryu. ]

Dunno why I didn't tell ya before, but. I think you've been here for me for a long time.

[ he does know why he hadn't said anything - he's been too scared. too scared to tell kiryu about his memory of calling out to him in front of the cops that day. but now that they've all but confirmed that they're both in a lot of each other's memories, it seems less scary and less one-sided. ]

When I got arrested, an' you were there? I told ya you were all I had left.

[ Kiryu wraps an arm around Majima's waist to hold him closer. He's happy to be there for him. He really likes Majima, from the way he fights to how kind he is, being with him feels right. They were close before all this, back then, and he's the kind of guy Kiryu knows he can rely on. If Kiryu can be there for him and help him through this, then he will. Seeing Majima smile makes him smile, and knowing he's the one that put that smile there feels even better. ]

Oh. [ Kiryu's surprised to hear that, though not for the fact that Majima neglected to mention that part. (Majima has a right to his secrets after all.) He smiles. It's a big responsibility, being there for Majima through all this, being all he has... But it feels like the kind of thing Kiryu has been waiting for. Someone to really care about. Someone to protect. ]

I'm glad.

[ majima presses into his hands, sighing happily. he opens his eye to look at him. kiryu's so nice, he's so damn lucky. ]

Kinda glad I turned out to be eyepatch guy.

[ Kiryu smirks. He knows what Majima means. ]

Me too.

[ All those fond memories make way more sense if he was talking to Majima this entire time. He might look different... but deep down, he's still the same. Plus this means they fight a lot which is super fun. That's something Kiryu will want to do... once Majima adjusts to the eye thing. ]

I'll keep being here for you, Majima.

[ Just. Forget that time he spent two years not talking to you and all that, we definitely don't need to relive that shit. ]
